Students learned that matter had the properties pertaining to light energy: opaque, translucent and transparent. An object that is opaque allows no light energy to travel through it. Translucent objects allow some light to travel through it. You will observe an outline or shadow. An object that is transparent allows all light energy to travel through it. You will observe details of the object you are observing. After reviewing the properties of light, students explored the room and found objects that had these particular properties. Aevri said, "I observed some solid things that were opaque like the table and chair." Maximus stated, "I held paper up to the light and saw an outline of my hand. The paper was translucent." Finally Meg declared, "My favorite transparent object was the glass around our door to the outside."
I hope you enjoy learning how the garden changes throughout the school year.
